Su regreso a Telford es parte de la estrategia de Watkins para construir un equipo que incluya a los mejores jugadores de la cantera. «Lo más importante que retuve de nuestras conversaciones fue lo mucho que quería mostrar en el Telford,» dijo. «Él tiene un hambre y un deseo de jugar para los Tigres que vale mucho. Since then, he has racked up two NIHL titles with the Chieftains and Blackburn Hawks, collecting 108 points in the process. Watkins, who coached Brittle during his time with Telford’s juniors, has been tracking the forward for some time. He said: “I have known Luke and his family for a long time, it was actually Luke’s dad Alan who gave me my first opportunity in coaching with the Telford Junior Club. I like Luke as player and a person. “I have followed his progress with interest, with the hope he would return home to Telford at some point. The time is right for both us and I’m very pleased he will be playing for the Tigers once again. “He’s a talented player no question, gifted on the puck, very good hands and with good vision. He wants the puck on his stick and for me it’s about putting him in the best situation for him to succeed. “He’s a skilled guy so we need to pair him with players who will compliment his skill set.” Brittle spent last season working and playing in Spain, where he collected 16 points in just ten matches for SAD Majadahonda. His return to Telford is part of Watkins’ strategy to build a side that includes the best locally-trained players. “The biggest thing I took from our conversations was how much he wanted to play back in Telford,” he said. “He has a hunger and desire to play for the Tigers and that is worth a lot. It’s fantastic to have locally trained players in the line up. It works on many fronts but we know he will settle back into the area quite easily. “I think this a good move for both the Tigers and Luke.”
